No. Still doing it. I got pulled a couple of months ago.

But I do have a question.

Is anyone changing testing policy with the increase in CBD availability and the fact that it stays in your system so long? THC levels could be increase for weeks after. We lost at least two candidates for employment due to failed testing but things are changing. How is this stuff effecting policy?

ETA: You get high on a Friday night, you are fine Saturday, get pulled on Wednesday and fail. If you had gotten drunk, your job wouldn't be in question. But this causes your termination.

Alcohol probably isn't against your company policy. Weed certainly is.

The drug testing that my son goes through to work in the plants is pretty ridiculous. They’ll do a hair follicle test that goes back six months to detect weed, but if you did coke, crack, or meth a week before the test, you’re good to go.

I modified our policy somewhat, or as much as I could within my insurance and state requirements.

I have to have a clean sample no matter what for new hires. That's non-negotiable from my insurance as well as the TN Drug Free program we are required to adhere to.

I also have to have a clean sample for accidents. That again is non-negotiable from my insurance as well as the TN Drug Free program. I've explained to my guys that's how it goes and there isn't much I can do about it. Kind if sucks that if you smoke a joint on Friday night but get in an accident next week that workers comp can refuse you, but it is what it is.

We still have quarterly random tests, but marijuana is no longer an immediate termination. Every other drug is an immediate termination. Insurance requires me to have some sort of punishment for marijuana, so I dock a day of vacation and require a retest in 30 days at the employee's expense. If you fail that one, then you get another day docked and a retest again in 30 days. This repeats until 90 days, at which point you may face punishment "up to termination." I basically left it open ended.

I explain it to my guys that I don't give a shite what they do on their off time, but you're sober on company time. We work with a dangerous product that will kill you in a heartbeat. I also tell them what you do on your own time can have consequences if you're injured on company time. You're an adult and able to take that risk, if you want.

I started working at the CBD extraction plant
No drug test and it's a pretty pot friendly vibe unsurprisingly
However my contract says if there is an incident I'll be drug and alcohol tested
We extract full spectrum CBD using 200 proof ethanol. Moving it around machine to machine, cleaning machines etc. Im pretty sure everyone would fail just by working there, absorbing and inhaling. So I'm not sure how that would work

When OK went to legalized MJ we changed policy to needing an Rx just like you would any other Rx. So if you were to get popped on a random then you would break out your script to show you were legal.

I do wonder, if quite a few companies stopped or reduced testing there is likely more folks doing drugs than pre Covid because the fear of randos slowed them down. Its still not easy to get new quality employees either.

Same here. I was wondering if anyone's companies were either eliminating thc from the panels or using a test that has higher minimum levels of thc.

THC derived from CBD is now legal in Louisiana now up to 8mg per serving. You can walk into any smoke shop/gas station and buy this now in gummies/tinctures/etc
It can make you feel a buzz, help you sleep etc.
The benefits are obvious over things like alcohol(the lobby is huge opponent of this new law).

But you'll fail a drug screen for THC.

I'm no stoner and I'm clean but would like to know I could enjoy those yummy treats if my company didn't test for low levels of thc.

For those not sure what I'm talking about regarding the new/upheld "THC from CBD" law in Louisiana.
WAFB Debate over CBD Laws

Opponents like the booze industry and medical marijuana farm owners have been trying to get it lowered to 2mg max. They don't like competition.
quote:

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Lawmakers in Louisiana voted on Thursday, April 20, to advance a bill that would make changes to the state’s current law on CBD products.

HB 605 by House Speaker Clay Schexnayder, R-Gonzales, would add restrictions to both serving and packaging sizes while also giving regulators what they need to keep tabs on products and their retailers. What it does not do is change the current THC limit of 8mg per dose.

“The big thing is making sure that if LDH follows the intent of the law, then you’re gonna have a safe product out there,” said Rep. Schexnayder.

But that is different from SB 219 by Sen. Stewart Cathey Jr., R-Monroe, which looks to roll the industry back by lowering the THC limit to 2mg per dose or less. It is something those in the business say would have severe consequences for them.
