Special Thanks... (Resurrected Thread for Father's Day)

This thread was originally posted after the 08 Ole Miss game. I thought I would bring it back as a Father's Day tribute.
Happy Father's Day to Dads everywhere!
...to Verge Ausberry and Randall Gay.
My son was diagnosed with Duchennes Muscular Dystrophy at age 2. He is now 11 and is confined to a wheelchair. I wanted to make Saturday's trip to Tiger Stadium a very special visit. I emailed Mr. Ausberry and asked what could be done. He gave me and my son a personal tour of the Football Operations Center. It was AWESOME! While we were there Saturday morning, we met Larry Porter, the running backs coach, and he was very engaging and friendly to us. We entered the weight room while the gymnastics team was working out and coach D D Breaux was awesome as well. She was so super nice to my son and took him to the indoor practice field so he could watch TGBFTL practice. He was speechless. The equipment room guys hooked him up with free sweats and pull over and the video production guy gave him a DVD of all of the motivational videos from 2007. Everywhere we went we were greeted and treated like VIPs. It was spectacular.
Additionally, Randall Gay found out about my son and what we had planned for game day and went out of his way to ensure that my son recieved a ball autographed by this year's team that Saturday morning.
After the tour we saw the band come down the hill and went in early for pregame. After the bitter loss as we were rolling out of the stadium, fans everywhere were very disgruntled, including me, but then my son grabbed my hand and said "Thanks Dad, for the BEST day of my life." The pain of the loss soon left and was replaced with a warm satisfied feeling that reminded me of why I was a tiger fan to start with.
The people make LSU special, and to those people, I cannot thank them enough!
Forever LSU!

That was awesome. I am sure glad he got a chance to expierence what makes LSU so special. Aside from what has gone on this year on the football field, we must all sit back and realize what is most important in life and it is not always the game. Good luck to you and your son.

Thanks for the thoughts and kind comments.
I would like to add that my wife taught for Verge Sr. at Freshman High in the Berry and also personally taught Jared Mitchell at Westgate. The Ausberrys are good people.
Also my sister-in-law is from Brusly and her people got Randall Gay involved. Once again all great people!

I was fortunate enough to meet this kid. He even has a purple and gold wheelchair. What a trooper!
