Which DB blew the coverage in the 1st half which left the Ole Miss WR WIDE open in the middle of the field?
I have looked at the replay and can't tell...does anybody know?

I thought it was Hawkins.
Hard to say without knowing what coverage they were in.

I think it was Hawkins. His man ran what looked to be a skinny post, the slot WR ran a corner route. The man covering the slot and the safety over the top went with the corner route, and Hawkins looked like he though he had help that wasn't there.

Do they play coverage...
Looks to me like the DC's just have them running around looking busy...
:dunno:

To me it looked like some of the D was playing zone and some were man-up.
Too much confusion for the 11th game of the year, IMO.

It was the safety, they were in cover 2, both receivers went vertical, corner takes one, safety takes one. The route they ran is a cover 2 beater so it is difficult to cover.

Phelon Jones let the receiver go...When breaux caught the long pass it was PP...He jump the inside route by another play and left breaux alone...Our DB have not played assignment football all year...They do not know their assignments or they are not executing their assignments

no he didn't. I just looked at the highlights again, and I was right except for the part about who ran the corner route, it was their TE. We were in 2 deep, Phelon took the TE and Coleman was helping over the top on that side. Phelon and Coleman both went with the TE, and Hawkins gets caught looking back inside and his man gets behind him.
But you're right our Dbs have seemed to frick up their assignments often. There was a play earlier on their first TD drive where a guy was wide open and Chad Jones goes up to Peterson pointing at himself because it looked like he left a zone uncovered. Didn't catch it originally on CBS, looked like the CSS replay had a different angle on it.

That's exactly it. There's three different units out there and none seem to know what's going on.

I'm sticking behind Les but if he does nothing about the defensive coaching staff I will no longer be in his corner.

It looked like half were playing man and the other half zone. The man catching the td pass was let go and Jones and PP were sucked towards the left sidelines. Jones reacted toward the play but was obviously late. I think Jones should have been playing more toward the center of the field or at least one of our safeties should have been. I have seen this all year. I like man better with some pressure from the backers. Giving the QB so much time kills us many times.

Jones and PP had man on the WRs to their side of the field, and McCray had deep help on that side. If Hawkins just stays with his guy, they may have had a short completion to Darry or PP's man, but not a 1st, let alone a TD.
