Yes, they designed a car, retrofitted / scaled up a plant(s) and procured inventory of pieces parts to manufacture enough of them to have them sitting on lots in less than a year.
Makes perfect sense.

Our tax $$$ have been being dumped into EV production for years.
Otherwise, the production of them would be miniscule.
Not only is the government paying these companies to build something almost nobody wants to buy, but they are using the same people's money who don't want them to pay for them.
