I have been using the Federal Fusion for years, in my .270 and the .243 for the kids. Have not lost a deer yet (knock on wood).

Fusions are great and like mini bombs, my son killed 220 pound deer with a .243 with ease. But you have to hit bone, since they are Teflon coated or whatever it is, on a perfect heart shot you may not find blood for 100s of yards. I killed two deer one back to back and I had to find the next day and neither of them left a drop of blood until I was almost right on the deer. The deer I found the next day was only 100 yards off the field and I thought i heard it fall but since no blood u always have some doubt. I ask back at camp and everyone had a similar story with fusions.

So with fusion do a double shoulder shot. (I think my son aimed at heart shot but he had slight flinch which always caused it to be neck shot. He killed a moving deer with a neck shot at a super weird angle almost 200 yards away through heavy brush once, so the old timers told me to leave him alone as none of use would have even tried that.

If you are turkey hunting and not using TSS shell you are really really missing out
