I've had great bosses who started as micromanagers but changed to solid, supportive managers once an employee earned their trust.

I've also had coworkers who accused bosses of being micromanagers, when in truth those coworkers were incompetent and not worthy of the manager's trust.

If you're being micromanaged after proving yourself worthy of trust, seek employment elsewhere.

I've never seen this occur as you describe it.

CAN it happen?

Sure, but the odds are heavily stacked that it won't happen.

The micromanagement trait comes from a general distrust of anyone other than themselves.

Sometimes it's a god complex, that no one can do it better than themselves.

Either way, most adults who distrust don't generally wake up one morning as a changed trusting person.

"Trust but verify" instead.
