Flew into PDX for our trip to Bend area on Friday. One of 5 bags made it with us, filed a report and headed to resort.

The other four bags made it to Seattle (???) that same night and have been there since. No movement in 33+ hours.

Any tips on how to deal with this? App and customer service with American gets us nowhere.

This just happened to us on the trip I am on now. You probably have to go to a baggage claim rep or checkin desk to get someone to actually help you. The bag tracker link on the AA website is accurate as to where bags are.

Rule One pack enough in a carryon for three days.

My business trip was Wednesday to Sunday. I made it Wednesday but bags made it Thursday. I came home last night but my bags apparently decided to stay at least another day. Two different airlines.

Put a sticker on it from every place that it’s been?

American Airlines? Sorry brah.

Going forward, I always carry a backpack that I carry-on with some Plan B clothes and shoes.

If I needed meds, they’d be in there too.

I almost always wear a sport coat and dress slacks to fly, so I’ve got one decent outfit guaranteed, in case my luggage doesn’t show.

I rarely check, usually only on a direct flight.

Now that I am back home, and got my bags 100+ hours after we landed, anyone have any solid advice for getting reimbursed by airline? Dos and don'ts?

Well, the airline will claim there was no impact to your trip because of the luggage delay. Your best hope is to take all the receipts you kept of the incidentals you had to buy while waiting on your bags and submit them as a claim.

Well, it's too late for this with you, but putting an Apple Airtag in your bag will allow you to find it for the airlines. Unless...

Does this mean you have an Airtag in it and know it's in Seattle? Call your frequent flyer number. I get much better airline customer service through them. Hopefully, you've flown them a good bit over the years. Regular customer service, not so much help.

The airline offers compensation for reasonable expenses incurred due to the delay. In our case this was clothing for 4 people for a few days, plus some additional items (toiletries, etc). The limit is $3,800 per passenger and we would be way less than this.

My sense is that they will nickel and dime us and question everything, but I'm submitting it all.

The bags were never lost, they just routed them to Seattle for some reason.

Then 48 hours later, they put them on a plane to PDX, and the following afternoon a driver brought them to us.

I do have Airtags, but forgot to put them in bags this trip. Either way, all Apple would have told me was that they were in Seattle......

I did try the FF and regular customer service. None were helpful.
