No, this new type of political/cultural lying is different. At least with the old lying there was a backstop of reality that the majority understood and relied upon. The standards of “common sense” and “reasonable person” have been intentionally corrupted and nullified by the “queering” or “anti-normativity” of the wokists.
This is the death of the monoculture not gaslighting. When Walter Cronkite gave the days news in 30 minutes, people could bar their disagreements off a shared set of “facts” even if those facts were often lies or at least misleading. The internet broke that. We’re all in our own bubbles and when we speak to someone outside our bubbles they sound insane, and we sound insane to them, because no one is talking about the same set of facts. It’s made filling the public with lord and misinformation easier than ever, but it’s still not gaslighting. Most of us spend all day online reading and talking to people who mostly agree with us. We aren’t in danger of doubting our own sanity. If anything we are more likely to believe that everyone else is insane

, but it’s still not gaslighting.
If youre purposely lying, and making the other "side" feel like theyre the crazy ones, thats gaslighting.
The perfect example is the Fairy Religion.
