I actually wish we had purely 'student athletes'

As much as I enjoy watching great athletic deeds - I wish that I could be proud of their academic potential as well as physical prowess.

But - of course this would be across the board for all 'universities'

I would not mind seeing purely "sports schools" funded by the professional sports leagues - which concentrate on non-academic oriented athletes. Professional sports is the only 'field' where this type person is going to become successful anyway.

That would allow the really talented athletes a route directly to their preferred future and not burden them with trying to 'find some trivial subject where they can 'earn' a passing grade for a couple of years.
