Spider prevention

I have a place in west Texas with a screened porch that has become a full blown spider haven. We only come out here a few times a year and I need something I can spray to give some long term results. To out this in perspective, I killed 4 black widows today and we bring kids out here. My first inclination is to napalm the entire house and start over. My wife isn’t cool with that for reasons I can’t understand, but such is life. My second thought is something like talstar but I’m not sure if that’s my best choice for something that I can reasonably only treat a few times a year. Any recommendations?

There's a product called "suspend" that I buy at a local DIY pest control place. Suspend works well because the dried product is large enough for spiders to pick it up on their feet where most products only kill if you spray the spider directly. Should be easy to find and Ive found it to work well with black widows as I had a problem with them many years ago.

I'll second the Suspend recommendation.

Suspend is a great product and will certainly help, but a frequently vacant property in spider country will continue to have spiders. Just be happy they are widows and not brown recluse, as widows are usually easier to find and control.

Use Cyper WSP. the generic form of Demon WP. 40% cypermethrin. It leaves behind a powdery residue that kills up to 3 months except where washed away by Rain. The 1lb pail will make up to 49 gal of spray.
If porch is infested so is the rest of the camp. Spray inside along baseboards, inside cabinets, under furniture and appliances. Any structures off the ground, spray upward underneath them.

Thanks for all the replies. I’m going to head into Abilene and see if I can find any of these.

What concentration are you guys running your suspend at?

If you have poisonous spiders in those concentrations I would consider doing a bug bomb in conjunction with the talstar or suspend spray.

I nuked it with raid. A bomb won’t work with the wind out here. Then I cleaned out all the webs and doused it in 1.5oz/gal of suspend. Already a huge improvement.
