Texas Ponied up 900k to Keep Muschamp..
Now this guy is fire on the sidelines...In your face, cursing, passionate guy..This builds energy and determination, mental toughness and focus, swagger!
MC is a great x and o guy too...Pelini JR
We got to get the right horse! Whatever it costs on that side of the ball..
LSU defense is what we are known for!
This stops immediately...
I love Miles...but loyalty stop right freaking now with these 2 guys....I am sorry, it just isn't working for the players, they are not longer "buying it"
LSU deserves the best Money can buy!!!
CFB is only getting bigger and more $$$$, programs are spending crazy money...We got to follow suite..
Les we love you, just remember LSU football is way way way way way way way way way way way way way way bigger than any friendship.
This should make your decision very simply fast and easy..
We look forward to a quality and very capable hire for DC

Compared to schools like Texas, Alabama, Oklahoma and Ohio State, LSU does not have a committed fan base.

It takes a committed fan base to pay for that.

LSU is ranked in top 8 of all programs in the country in terms of football revenue...close to 51 million per year!
Plenty committed fan base, or that doesn't happen
The bottom line is, fans can't watch the wheels coming off, it too hard to stomach
I give the fan base a pass...Top Programs don't perform like this, ever!
Too many things happening all at once..QB's DC, schedule, the INT's, players quitting etc.

Oh yeah, the kind of swagger that gave up 387 yards to OSU, who just beat the crapola out of the TT offense Muschamp's D gave up a crap load of passing yards to in defeat.
Is THAT the Muschamp to whom you allude?
You know, the Muschamp whose D was owned by TT ... the same TT that OSU just owned and utterly and completely humiliated from the git-go.
Oh, yessir, get us some of that!

Wow... Texas may be one of the few major programs in the country with more fans paying big bucks to stay half the game than LSU.

Laugh all you want..Muschamp way better than what we got going right now?
WHo hasn't been lite up by TT in Lubbock? Lubbock, big difference than Norman..
Texas may win the MNC this year, so I would keep your laughter down before it plays out..
I have heard Muschamp in meetings before, the guy is a machine

OIC, you're one of those "conditional" LSU fans, eh?
While I'm as bitterly disappointed and ticked at the way we lost 3 of those 4 games, I've been bleeding purple and gold since the day I was born.
So, hell no, I ain't giving conditional fans a pass. You're either an LSU fan or you ain't, all or nothing. Bitch, piss, moan and complain to the third heaven about LSU losing, the way we lost, poor decision-making by players and coaches, whatever, that's what fans do, especially when disappointed about a season's outcome ... but don't gimme that conditional fan bullshiit, no thank you.

I have watched ever single snap standing up. I am postive and loyal like no other, but I don't sugar coat reality
Down 31-3 to Troy at Home?
Last time I check, we are LSU 2 time MNC's?
That team has been absent since the BAMA OT loss.
The fans are saying, if your not going to show up, then we ain't staying to watch you self destruct

Easy. It is a simple formula.
LSU's commitment to winning games is inversely proportional to the number of people attending games and buying tickets, but not to infinity...
Hopefully whomever really is in charge at LSU will make sure the right steps are taken to avoid sliding back ino the Archer/Hallman/Dinardo days.

I don't want "better", I want BEST.
There is a remote possibility, however remote, that Miles couldn't get a DC he really wanted.
Pelini was no prize - like Muschamp, he's a great MOTIVATOR but a crappy game day schemer and architect. ANY DC who doesn't send the house on 4th down 10+ in OT +7 against Arky's Casey Dick isn't worthy of the title DC at LSU.
Here's the problem with hiring a "decent" DC: if you have overall team success (like close but no SECC or MNCC cigar year-in/year-out 9-3, 10-2 type seasons) coupled with just a "decent' D, you can't force him out. Pelini was going nowhere without a good HC offer - LSU's hot 'n cold defensive woes would have continued under Pelini - until we were fortunate enough to have Tom O and Nebraska take him off our hands.
Don't start with the Tenuta, either, as he has a legendary rep for not making nice by being mega-divisive on the staff of every team he's ever been a part of.
I'm HOPING, admittedly it's only a distant hope, Miles couldn't get whoever he wanted at DC at season's end, so he tried an experiment that bombed. That he realized that early on and started making plans to upgrade already. I'm hoping that's the case.
I do NOT believe when it comes to self-preservation - head coaches with crystal FBs tend to have egos - Miles is as stubborn as many think he is where the co-DCs are concerned.
My problem is that if it were left to me, it'd be a cold day in hell before I'd send 98% of offensive coordinators to do a man's job as head coach at any SEC FB program ... nor would I hire 98% of the offensively-minded HC's already coaching at the collegiate level to coach any SEC team.
Yeah, there have been a few successes, but I'm an old fart who still believes defenses win championships. Whilst I love an explosive O with the capability of putting up big points in a heartbeat, I can live better with an average to good O and a superlative D than I can with a mediocre D and a stellar O.
But that's just me, just sayn.

And where, pray tell, did I sugar coat anything?
I'm just never going to be down with giving fans a pass - we can be pissed, we can get mad and bitch at bad play by our Tigers, but we never get a pass as fans. It's an either/or thing.
Bitching is what fans do when things don't work out like we want 'em to, that's the nature of the beast ... but we ARE LSU and we stick together, even when we're bitching, griping, pissing and moaning about poor play on the field, poor coaching decisions or one of a thousand other things we nit-pick.
Nit-Picking is okay, we always do it, but in the end we ARE LSU.

I'll assume you are in the group who either didn't go to the Troy game or left at halftime. Therefore, you have no sense of how uncommitted LSU is to its football program. I have watched every play run in Tiger Stadium this year and have a clear picture of how uncommitted the LSU fan base is to supporting the team and winning football games. A committed fan base does not bail out at halftime. A committed fan base does not boo a freshman QB off the field repeatedly. If you did stick it out for the Troy game and you don't recognize this lack of commitment, you are the moron. If you weren't in Tiger Stadium for the 2nd half of the Troy game and believe this has no impact on the future of the program and winning football games, you are definitely a moron.

If it doesn't take a committed fan base to pay $900,000 for a coordinator, I'd like to hear where you think LSU can get the money to pay for such a coach.
Posted on 11/23/08 at 12:40 pm to lsu711
Hell, Lester Earl will probably get a 10 million pay increase.
Posted on 11/23/08 at 12:42 pm to TigersInExile
This is hard to watch...perhaps the players can use this off season to regain their hunger for winning. Perhaps us fans will regain our appreciation for winning. THE ONLY THING HARDER THAN GETTING TO THE TOP IS ...STAYING THERE. As quickly as it seems to have declined..it can turnaround just that quick. I believe that it will. Welcome the next class and the future stars already on the team. The glass is more than half full.

Aye, as you clearly already know, coaches, coordinators and assistants are all paid for by a combination of TAF contributions from fans and countless other faithful LSU alumni, coupled with the University's budgeted allotment for salaries.
Unless, of course, LSU has grown a never-ending money tree in the midst of its parade ground since the marvelous years I spent on campus.

Is that better than giving up over 400 yards to Ole Miss?

Where does Ole Miss offense ranks compared to ANY offense that Muschamp's D has been torched by? If we played those same teams, they would put up 600 or more yards on us, get serious. UF beat the brakes off us and could have scored more if they would have cared to. That is the ONLY offense that we have faced that compares to those high powered Big 12 offenses and we "molly-whomped". To get a better idea of Muschamp's D, go back and look at the 2003 and 2004 season here and where the D ranked.

You seem to think the peope in the stands are the only "fans" that LSU has. Before moving to DC, my family had the same season tickets we've had since the 50's. I've been following LSU since birth, basically. I've grilled beef tenderlion for Tommy Casanova, gone duck hunting with Bert Jones, played HORSE with Dalton Hilliard, helped recruit Kevin Faulk, among MANY others, cashed campaign contribution checks from Pete Maravich - and those are just some of the highlights. Please, spare me your "real fan" bullshite.
If it weren't for very DEMANDING fans like me and my family, we'd still be coached by Curly fricking Hallman.

No. Drunken, cold people who are sick of watching their team look like they don't give a shite leave early. And once again, don't confuse the people who can afford to consistently go to the game every week with the real fan base. Ticket prices have steadily gone up and frankly, the average fan can't fit the bill - ESPECIALLY when it's a big game and prices are gouged to 10X the face value.
LSU's current performance level has absolutely NOTHING to do with the fans, and if fans ("real" or otherwise) don't hold their team to high standards, the team has no reason to perform well.
As for money, that's the reason I think you're extremely ill-informed. Trust me, LSU has more than enough to pay a top DC to come here.
