I agree. We had a good year in football last year. Should he be expected to win it all next year? Probably not. But there will major pressure on him. Mulkey and Johnson did it in year 2. Brian Kelly is trying take some of the pressure off of himself with that statement, which is very smart. But if we don’t get into the playoff, he’s going to catch a lot of heat.

Football is such a different game than baseball or basketball. In those sports, one or two superstars can get you over the top.

Football requires many and a damn good QB.
All while going up against similar caliber programs week after week

You do realize LSU could theoretically go 11-1 and miss out on the playoffs.

Why would he catch any heat for that?

The bottom line is they are going to be very competitive and very much a potential contender. No one should come out and say yea we are set to win it all this year, that doesn’t do anyone at LSU any good. He needs to hammer into everyone’s heads that this is going to be a monumental task and we have to rise to the challenge every day.
