Upvote if you want to keep him.
Downvote if you want the team to go in another direction.

Personally I’m always for improving the roster if the opportunity arises but I think Jonas gets a lot more shite from fans than is deserved. Yes he’s not the most agile big man and isn’t a great defender but I think a lot of people forget how good his offensive game really is. He is great down low in the post and he can also hit the 3 at a decent rate. Jonas won several games for the team last year almost on his own. He’s also a walking double double and a true center that you need against bigger teams. If we can’t get a quick, rim protecting big man then I’m fine having Jonas back where at least his offensive game can help offset his defensive issues.

Seeing all these contracts. I be happy with Jonas at 15 million a year. I don’t think we can replace his production.

I’d rather keep Jonas at 15mil and trade Nance at 10 mil. 1 is the only true center on the roster. The other has 5 players who can play his role.

And 1 played almost all games last season

Edit: absolutely not a stab at Nance. Love the guy and his willingness to be here. But Val is the more valuable asset for this team and has less health issues.

I think another part that is overlooked is Jonas’ public desire to stay in New Orleans. Not many players say that about New Orleans or small markets anymore. Larry played hurt all year because he had to and clearly wasn’t himself and didn’t have his natural bounce in his step. I think he has a good rebound year next year. He’s a good veteran player when he’s healthy. But there is no denying Jonas is an iron man on the court.

My wish is to keep JV as as the backup center. Trade CJ some how to for a center to take JV’s starting role. CJ making 35mil ain’t right with me

I think that’s a fine contract for him. He was playing with a broken finger. You see guys like Poole, Herro, Vanfleet getting around 30 million. Plus he was the guy who brought Zion back to New Orleans from his hiatus in Seattle. Also, he’s the only one that seems to be blunt with Zion. The Dallas game makes me appreciate CJ a lot.

Jonas is often overlooked for what he brings on the floor. He’s not an eliterim protector, but man, he does a lot very well. A walking double, double, indeed.

Keep - he’s very valuable as a rebounder and scorer.

I don’t know how many times late in games I thought “stop being cute and feed the giant Lithuanian in the post.”

I totally agree. I like Nance and what he brings, but he’s one of the easier contracts we have to move. Then, if you add another lower end roster guy or two for salary fillers and throw in some firsts we should be able to get a valuable player in return while hopefully saving money at the same time. I’d love to trade nance and kira plus a first and couple seconds or something for a guy like PJ Washington or less to give up for maybe a Patrick Williams
