Best Athletic Department in the Country?

I listened to the game from my campsite in Colorado. Heard several cheers from around the Aspenglen campground and from nearby resorts. My wife screamed a "Geaux Tigers" in the direction of several Florida campers that were flying their flags.
Afterward, I put it on ESPN radio, and whatever randos they have on there at night were talking about LSU having the best all around athletic department in the country. They talked about men's basketball being the only real weak spot, and how LSU has the budget and recruiting ground to beat anyone in basically any sport. Just thought it was interesting.
Note: It was "Freddie & Fitzsimmons".

I really do hope we can fix the MBB program, that will up us over the top IMO.
If I had to name some, I think OSU and Michigan have to be in the non-SEC discussion as overall programs. For SEC, UF is somewhat underrated IMO. I think they're the only program to win CFB, MBB and CWS championships.

Stanford consistently wins the Directors Cup , Stanford and Florida are the only schools to finish ranked within the top 10 every season. Stanford has never finished outside the top two.

Stanford has 15 male/20 female sports. A lot of niche teams that can help qualify.

Stanford has 20 women's sports. LSU has 11.
Stanford has 18 men's sports. LSU has 8.
Stanford only wins because of the quantity of sports and the fact that so little schools compete in squash and artistic swimming.

On the Gators board last night they were consoling themselves talking about golf and women’s track championships that Florida won, that and the fact that they scored more points in the 3 games of the finals (whatever that gets them)

Hard to compete with that, but if we’re talking sports that people actually watch and buy tickets to attend (FB, MBB, WBB, Base, Soft), LSU has the resources to compete with anyone.

The average university has 20 varsity sports . Stanford has 36 which is second to only Ohio State at 37 and the Ivy Leagues who don’t offer scholarships.
LSU only has 14 Varsity sports . LSU is definitely at a numbers disadvantage but that is LSU’s problem . I can make an argument they are highly successful currently in the major sports but men’s basketball however there are 24 sports the NCAA oversees and as many as 37 recognized varsity sports .
