Imagine winning a CWS finals game 24-4...and having nothing to show for it

I'm sure both coaches are pointing this out to their players. All Florida won was a chance to play one more time. On Saturday, LSU won the chance to play two more games. All the pressure was on Florida. LSU was emotionally exhausted after the run through Wake Forest (2x) and UF in extras, and for the first time since the Super Regional, LSU had a game to give with no consequences.
Nothing was won or lost yesterday afternoon.
In a season of 70+ games for the finalists in the CWS, the occasional game is meaningless.
Yes, it was on a big stage, on national television, and in front of a packed house. And yes, it was "embarrassing."
But it was completely meaningless, just like a Tuesday against Grambling State.

Yep. It’s so obvious we are the better team. We took yesterday off and essentially made it a rest day while Florida was trying their assess off. It was honestly hilarious to watch.

We have to win today for that game to mean nothing. If we lose then that will always hang over lsu.

Baseball teams hardly ever keep the bats going after an outing like that. Florida goes cold & won’t hit 1 HR today

How is it obvious we are the better team? Their lineup looks very disciplined

We basically conceded when it was 8-3, so a lot of their runs were off of guys like Collins, Little, and Dutton. Losing by 1 or losing by 20 is still 1 loss, either way. The big question is, how will we respond?

Collins, Little, and Dutton.
The proverbial white flag. But I'm glad those guys got to pitch on the big stage.

You mean their lineup that has had 34 strikeouts in 2 days?

Let them feel good about hitting our very back end of the bullpen guys. Skenes and Hurd are waiting in the wings

I would imagine they would start the crying game saying they were the better team and the margin shows that but they just didn't deliver...

Shamelessly bumping this from yesterday.
The images of LSU getting hit after hit after hit yesterday while UF went from the 2nd batter of the game until the 7th inning before getting another hit will be all that anyone remembers about this series. LSU had more extra base hits than UF had total hits.
I guess it's a consolation prize to have the most home runs in a single CWS, and Ty Evans should be proud of hitting the shortest home runs possible to break that record. Florida should be proud of tying the record for most home runs in a CWS (17). 10 of those were solo home runs and a testament to UF's inconsistency in getting on base.
When it mattered most, LSU answered the call every single time.
When it mattered most, LSU's pitching was dominant.
When it mattered most, LSU's offense forced UF to go to the bullpen early in all three games, including the 24-4 game on Sunday.
And when it mattered most, LSU capitalized on RISP (11 for 23).
So the point remains - UF won a CWS Finals Game 24-4, and is going home with nothing to show for it.
