If Skenes throws more than 5 innings tonight, he MIGHT make a short appearance in game 3 IF we get that far. Bullpen games can be won against WF. I don't see that as a realistic option vs UF's lineup. I'd rather roll the dice tonight (the first few innings) than in the finals. I think we match up fantastically with Florida if Skenes throws game 1. Without him, THAT would be a shitload harder than tonight.

I think people are having flashbacks to 2017 when we lost to FL in the championship series because we didn't have our best pitcher available. I know you have to get there, but this definitely feels like deja vu.

Stole this from another poster in separate thread. Basically sums up my perspective.

i can promise you, on nearly 4 days rest, skenes will be the man in game 3. You would have to shoot him dead to stop it.

What?

You mean that you are more afraid of Florida's offense than Wake's?

Batting Average: Wake Forest #26, Florida #86 (and before you say that's because of ACC pitching...LSU is #18)
Runs: Wake #2, Florida #10 (LSU #1)
Hits: Wake #14, Florida #19 (LSU #6)
Home Runs: Wake #5, Florida #3 (LSU #2) - effectively neutralized at CWS
OBP: Wake #5, Florida #84 (LSU #2)
Slugging: Wake #8, Florida #7 (LSU #5)

Florida is good - there's a reason they are #2. But there's also a reason Wake is #1 and LSU is #5. There are three really good teams left in Omaha, and our opponent tonight is Wake Forest. We have to beat them to face Florida. Wake is not some lightweight SunBelt school that's on a lucky streak; those guys can hit so I'd rather not find out just how much they can hit by being cute and starting Thatcher Hurd.
