The Louisiana legislature just passed a bill this session that would require 3rd graders who can’t read on level to repeat 3rd grade. They’re given 3 difference chances to pass before being held back. This is pretty significant since a 3rd graders reading level is a good indication of a students academic trajectory. I don’t agree with the multiple chances but I’ll be damned if Louisiana actually did something good
