So every league then. And if it works for your league like Messi to MLS, why not? Ultimately, players will want to compete at the top level and most of those teams aren't wasting money on has beens (excepting Ronaldo to ManU of course).

CR7 still preformed for United tho. Of course most players will play in the top leagues. If dudes want a massive check in a retirement league then go for it. Problem is Saudi is moving in on quality players in their prime. Something MLS can’t do. They have the funds to be in it for the long run unlike China

But is it for MLS. The owners have shown their hand on why Messi is coming here. They don’t care about improving soccer in this country. Agreeing to all pay his wages, giving him a cut of Apple TV/Adidas money. Then jacking up FV prices on Miami matches when they come to your city is shameful. They don’t care about being competitive.
