Cabin in WNC was $2k out the door. Booked a month ahead in Sept for Oct stay.
The same cabin, the same number of days, the same week in October is now $5500

True. Another thing I miss was empty airports. It was eerie going to the airport and very few people there but it made travel a breeze.

I miss the pricing. The lack of crowds.

Don't miss the additional protocols. We took 2 European trips in 2021 right after things opened back up. Then Omicron hit. Germany was the most restrictive. Some of the Christmas markets were closed. Needed the Digital Certificate to access certain restaurants. Masking. Spit tests on the boats we took. Still had fun and survived, but the added layer of precautions didn't offset ultimately us going and having a pretty good time.

Back when I could fly out of my regional airport for cheap as hell. Now I’m stuck driving to either msy-Houston- or Dallas for a decent fare.

In 2020, I traveled peak summer travel season in the west and was getting Marriott hotels for under $100 a night. My rental car was $26/day.

I miss it.
