Staying at Excellence Punta Cana this fall with wife.
Any recommendations from people that have stayed there and or been to Punta Cana?
Looking for good snorkeling, good boat trip, possibly swim with dolphins and a bar to watch LSU!

Don’t get shot or raped on the way from the airport.
eta: There’s a “sports bar” on site that has ESPN

We went the excellence El Carmen in December which is right next door. Think they are similar this one’s just newer. It was good not great.
Pros: beach was beautiful, food was good, the silent discos they did at night were really fun, the complimentary hydro massage at the spa was amazing
Cons: service wasn’t as good as I’ve had at Mexican resorts, wasn’t quite as nice either but this was to be expected as it was cheaper, water in swim out pool from room was to cold to get into, room was hot, and night entertainment was kinda meh

Check out Scape park. Zip lines, good swimming in cold blue water etc. We have been twice. Went last year and stayed at Hyatt Ziva. Really enjoyed it.

Stay on the resort and have fun. You will see a lot of Kawasaki 125s with 2 or 3 locals on the road. The guy in the back will be holding a cage with either a monkey or a parrot. They go to all of the AI resorts to offer you a photo with the animal for $20-$30 bucks.
If your wife likes unique jewelry, you will come home with an expensive piece with Larimar. It is a gemstone exclusive to the DR. They take shuttles from the resort to a town called Bavaro where most of the legit Larimar jewelers are located.
The vendors on the beach are persistent and often pushy. If you walk into there little huts where they sell their “made in China” DR souvenirs, they believe you shouldn’t exit without buying something.
Most AI properties there have all you need onsite. To me, Punta Cana is a beach, pool, alchohol, and onsite dining type vacation. Good for about 4-5 days max. Maybe one of their bars at the resort will have the LSU game available. If not, maybe some other SEC game.

We stayed last year at Royalton Bavarro and just booked again at Majestic Elegance. We really enjoyed our last trip but only did one excursion, the day boat trip to Saona Island. That island is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been. If you do that try to find a more private or semi private boat trip as they let you spend more time on beach and won't be packed on boat with alot of others.
