what pellet grill were you using to come to this conclusion? model number, how high temp did you get it prior to searing and what did you use to sear?

They can sear but what happens when you need to move that steak to lower heat fast? Ive observed neighbors and friends cooking on theirs and look they are fine for what they offer but I prefer to grill and bbq with multizone heat that most pellet grills dont really do well by design. The are a few models like the Weber Smoke Fire that you can use direct flame and with some accessories to make multizone heat but by and large its indirect heat.

Also I just enjoy the process of cooking with wood and charcoal and the flavor it produces more than pellets or propane.
