I'd imagine their job is nearly impossible to succeed in with people's emotional trigger so fragile. Don't take much to get cancelled

Maybe back in 2015 but the whole cancel culture charade has elevated far more comedians than ended careers in what I would call the Pod cast era

Shane Gillis admits or atleast has talked about the whole SNL cancellation was a huge boast to his career and likely the best thing that happened to him.

There’s a way bigger and more profitable audience out there that wants to defend against any and all “cancellations” than the fleeting Twitter controversy that used to send companies shaking in their boots, but now they actively participate in edgy humor to appeal to their social media audience

The only guys who really I’d consider “cancelled” or had their careers seriously damaged by online backlash, are guys like Delia and Callen, which weren’t cancelled for anything they said but actual allegations of misconduct. And they’ve both worked their way back to atleast some level of success (I believe Delia is selling out theaters again). Brennan Schaub has also been “cancelled” is some way, but only for just being extremely unfunny

I think this reached a bit of an apex with that Whitney Cummings special where she didn’t even make a joke she just spent the first 20 minutes of her special talking about how comedians are the light bringers and modern philosophers. It’s just as eye rolling and self indulgent than the over the top reaction/self righteousness that started that whole cancel culture movement in the first place

At a more elite level, guys like Gervais and Chappelle have never been more popular by riding the same anti cancel culture wave. I think everyone needs to let go of this bogey man

Somewhere on YT there is a classic clip of Janeane Garofalo onstage in a comedy club, delivering a lecture on Derrida or some French philosopher. I think Norm MacDonald devoted a bit to it.

You're just making shite up. Just because it worked out in the end, doesn't mean it was pleasant for him. Maybe listen to the podcast a time or 2 before you come on here and type a fricking novel.
