Some standup comedians are not that great while doing standup but are otherwise really funny as guests or hosts on podcasts and gained fame that way.

Bert and Theo I think are both good on podcasts but terrible at standup.

The one comedian who I think is terrible at standup but is hyped up as being great is Chris Rock. His delivery is very odd and he repeats himself constantly to try to get his timing right. It's annoying to listen to. I think the material is good, but he's not that good at delivering it.

It's only gotten worse as he's aged. His recent Netflix special was unwatchable.

Nailed it. Theo is good on that Storytellers show but like Bert, grating and horrible timing in pure stand-up.

His stuff on HBO in the 90s still holds up. More recent stuff sucks and his horse laugh he does under his breath after he tells a joke is so god damned unbearable

Bigger and Blacker is a classic.
