Our government will ban HCFS only after they find an alternative with the financial backing to pay them to ban the original.

Yep. Just like sugar industry push "fat free" and then doubled or tripled the amount of sugar in products in order to account for the lack of taste. 60yrs later we have a diabetes epidemic and sugar has been found to be at least as bad as saturated fat for the body (if not worse).
All about the money and the FDA is not a protection for consumers, but a clearinghouse for companies.
