insane price of Disney and even the Florida panhandle
Congrats for thinking outside of the box.
Not starting a side thread but people that routinely spend nearly 10K at Disney blows my mind. I get maybe doing it once, but I know families that go every 2-3 years with their kids. IMO for that kind of money you owe it to your kids to expand their horizons.

I truly do not understand the hardcore devotion to disney, and I definitely am missing what makes orlando so great. At least with the "lands" you have other options and aren't forced to devote your entire trip to disney stuff.
I saw one stop flights from BTR to Paris in the $650s in December a few months ago. Rough same prices for Rome and Munich. Screw epcot and bring your kids to the real thing.
If you can avoid high seasons in europe and are willing to airbnb or vrbo you can easily save money on a euro trip woth the family. Besides the calendar (affects airfare/crowds/lodging), your biggest cost driver would be hotels. If it is not a party of 2, hotels are often not your best option.

YOLO - do both
Living within less than a half day's drive to the worlds most popular vacation resort and theme park definitely has it's advantages but do agree that there are many places in this country and around the world that kids should not miss just for the sake of routine trips to Disney World, 30A, Gatlinburg, etc.

No need to pay 10k for a Disney trip. Can get it for 1/3 that price
