Did politics dominate everything? Any time when that wasn’t happening is better than now.

As someone who turned 10 years old in 1980, I honestly pity those who were not given the privilege to have been young and alive during the 1980s. It was the apex age of Western Civilization.

Not me

Lynchings, homophobia, constantly being misgendered and called by my dead name...

No, today is America's golden age

No. Even though CNN started in 1980 most people got their fill of politics from their local paper and an hour of news in the evening (30 min local/30 min national) and there is only so much bile you can raise in someone in a 30 minute overview of the news.

I loved the 80's probably because all 7 years of HS and college were in the 80s for me. While my life seemed chaotic and stressful at times in retrospect it was incredibly simple and low stress.

Ah yes.. Before we realized that Rob Lowe was an alcoholic banging 16 yr olds in hotel rooms.. and that Judd Nelson had the largest nostrils known to man.. and that Emilio Estevez was 5’4” .

Agreed.. i loved the 80s as much as the next guy, maybe more.. but i also remember that there were serial killers like Ted Bundy, and the constant threat of nuclear annihilation that seemed very real to 7 yr old me.. and that a Catholic priest in my parish was molesting my friends (luckily he spared me).. so it was far from perfect, though when we look back it’s easy to remember only the good things, it’s called nostalgia .

Rax

Bono's pizza

Leisure Landing

Round The Corner

No. Reagan turned the country around after Carter had neutered it. Everyone was proud to be an American and America dominated the world scene. Everyone respected and obeyed the police. Social norms dictated that those who should stay in the closet did so.

This post reads as a joke. Somehow I think you’re being serious.
