I use this type of functionality to turn on a smart light bulb in lamp by the front door if our ring doorbell detects motion after a certain time at night (9:30 pm). It works very well. (As a side note, if it is triggered during the night, I have that light bulb stay on at 1% brightness to let me know the next day that there was a motion event on the doorbell)
