Was just speaking to the brother-in-law again. He says the news is saying something like 30 lightning strikes in northern Ontario started the fires, but he says a lot of people are saying the government started them on purpose.
There was a time not too long ago people would laugh at such things.....

There were some instances where some fires called back fires were intentionally started in an attempt to contain larger fires. The purpose of that is to have those back fires consume combustible material in the area before the the larger fires get to them. It’s obviously not a foolproof practice.

It doesn't take the government to prop up the fact that the majority of wildfires are human-caused. Some of the same people who would buy into a conspiracy that government started wildfires are the same people who will do a shite job putting out a campfire, or dragging a chain on a trailer, or flicking a cigarette out the window.
"Human-caused" doesn't necessarily mean arson. In fact, "human-caused" and "arson" are two separate things when it comes to determining how a wildfire started.
