There are a lot of myths surrounding Vidor. The reputation is earned but exaggerated as it's not what it used to be. The KKK basically no longer exists and there are different races now living in Vidor including blacks, Indians/Asians, Mexicans, etc

Is there still racism there? Yes of course but probably no worse than the racism we see from Dems in CA or NY.

I do remember that when they built Government housing in Vidor and put a fence around it the locals allegedly called it their zoo.

Yep. I've been a few times for meetings and I virtually everybody I met with was hispanic. Vidor ain't pretty but I feel safer there than various liberal paradises.

I can remember being in Vidor in 1989 and several locals referring to a part of town as the zoo.
