If you hire great assistants don't you expect them to get promotions?

I don't see how this has anything to do with working together. Of course they are going to take head coaching jobs.

He might not be, but let’s look at where they went.

Jason Kelly- Washington assistant for many year, pac 12 job, no-brainer

Dan Fitzgerald- strictly a midwest guy, big 12 job, no brainer

Wes Johnson- sec job

It’s not like any of them were head scratching decisions.

It's no different than a guy like Saban. If you are good enough as a coach, you become the king-maker. If Jay keeps winning, he may replace a lot of assistants and be just fine. People don't go coach with Saban to enjoy his company. They go to improve their brand and leave. This just wasn't what happened in this particular.
