I was at a bar in Manhattan in the 90's on business and a legit OT8 walks up and offers to buy me a drink. I ain't bad but this was a new one for me. I don't pull that kind of arse. As drinks were $12 back then (which was a ton) I took the drink and told her I was from out of town and leaving in the morning and was in a committed relationship. Her response? "No sweat, I moved here six months ago and it's nice just to talk to a guy who is straight and isn't an idiot. I can't get a date in this town." That was when I realized all those articles about there being three eligible women to every man in NYC weren't just made up media bullshite.
