I’m thinking of buying 100 shares. Is this a solid long term investment?

My non-investment advice …
Never bet against the MIC.

Their revenue is double what it was five years ago, but their earnings (by net income) are the same. I'd first be interested to know what kinds of expenses that extra money has been going to.

Payoffs/Lobbying would be my guess

Along with a couple of others, I had it on my radar late last year and began selling puts against it in my investment account. That’s how I typically pick up shares in that account. If they hit my desired price (strike), great - I take the shares and reduce my cost basis by the amount of premium. If not, I just keep the premium and adjust my strikes up or down as necessary. RTX never hit my strikes, so I was never assigned shares. Most of my strikes were in the high 90s. I see that it’s now backed off and is in the mid 90s.
My desire to own it (or any single stock in the sector) has changed, and I’m now looking at ETFs for a longer term investment in the defense sector. Here’s a link to some ETF products you may want to consider:
6 best defense ETFs to consider in 2023
IMO, only the first three are worthy of consideration. The last three are more speculative (which may suit your needs, but not mine).
1) (ITA) iShares U.S. Aerospace & Defense ETF (includes RTX as a top holding).
2) (XAR) SPDR S&P Aerospace & Defense ETF (does not include RTX as a top holding).
3) (PPA) Invesco Aerospace & Defense ETF (includes RTX as a top holding).

Interesting. Thank you for the info.
I went through and bought RTX, but I think I will take your advice for my next investment in the sector.
