Going to say this because I am unsure, but this is how I choose to look at it

I personally don’t think Johnson is an idiot. A large part of me wants to believe that some of the decisions made this weekend were made in order to put players in situations they may encounter in the next few weeks.
Ex: Dugas Bunt today.
There is a lot more moving pieces we don’t see; take signs, hit signs, crews stole today, etc.
The positives are this: Hurd and Ack threw great on Wednesday, cooper essentially shut down a hot arky team, outside of the catchers interference call and the 3 run bomb we won almost every inning this week, Guidry continues to throw well, we now know Dutton should not throw.
Negatives: Hitting with runners in scoring position, making contact instead of striking out or fouling out, baserunning issues.
I’ll tack some of the lackluster effort and mental mistakes to the fact that we have been on the road for about 9 days now, and it’s a tournament that essentially does not matter. No matter what that wears a little. Let’s go home and regroup.

Dugas didn’t bunt in the same spot in the 9th.
We were closer to scoring when he bunted.
Jay made the right call to bunt Dugas when he did.

We’re outplaying teams so eventually that turns into wins, it has to

This is not a slam dunk Omaha team
Hopefully the right decisions are made to maximize this team but I still have my doubts

The negative you posted was a huge negative last season. The HRs masked that this year but not sure if it's more of a Johnson thing at this point

Yeah I just don’t know how you change that. Part of that is just a clutch gene. Hard to coach that imo.

Hitting with RISP is not some kind of secret approach at the plate. In conference play we had the 2nd lowest amount of Ks, 2nd highest amount of walks, and most HBPs. We dominated the conference in RBIs.
This team can hit, and they can hit in “clutch” spots, but we just hit a bad stretch lately. Reversion to the mean will happen, and hopefully it’s on our side in the regional.

There is a ton of stats that prove the clutch gene in baseball is just hogwash.
Guys that hit without RISP do the same with RISP over enough samples.

We have outhit the frick out of teams this week. No errors today ,one earned from starter and closer gave up nothing. One little hung curve ball and one catcher’s interference and we lose. 34 hits in the last 3 games
