as mentioned above, i moved to Temple (about 45 miles north of Austin) 15 years ago. When we went to Austin growing up in the 80s and 90s it was a decent sized town around 400k, It's a million now and that's pretty crazy to think of.
there used to be a lot of country side between Austin and Buda, then Kyle to San Marcos, and SM to New Braunfels. now the only area that is remotely unpopulated is a little blip between the outlet malls and the Buccees.
Staggering growth.
