Coming from Baton Rouge for a weekend trip, is there a course on the way that is worth a stop or would it be better to play Black Bear twice?

You could stop in Natchez and play Beau Pre or Duncan Park. Beau Pre being the nicer of the two. There are 4 9-hole courses spread thru the delta. Panola Woods in Ferriday (may be members only), Lake Bruin CC, Tallulah CC, and Lake Providence CC. The latter 3 you should be able to play.

Black Bear was cheap, the carts were brand new, and the course was in great shape. I'd def consider playing it twice.
