The Oakland Athletics have reached agreement to put their new ballpark on part of the site of the current Tropicana property along the Las Vegas Strip.

Bally's Corp. announced Monday that, in conjunction with Gaming & Leisure Properties, Inc., it has reached a binding agreement with the A's for the site.

Plans call for a 30,000-seat ballpark projected to draw more than 2.5 million people per year, per Bally's. Previous reports estimated the cost of the stadium at $1.5 billion, with $395 million in public financing.

Under the agreement, Bally's and GLPI will set aside about nine acres of the 35-acre parcel at Las Vegas Boulevard and Tropicana Avenue for the A's or a related stadium authority. Before ground can be broken on a stadium, legislation must be approved for public financing, and Major League Baseball must grant approval for the A's to leave Oakland.

Only 30,000?
They are going to spend all of that money and the park is only going to hold 30,000?

No baseball field should ever be built going forward without a retractable roof. Period.

The state is only willing to pay so much. So Clark County is going to have to step up.

quote:

Nevada lawmakers have not yet introduced legislation to bring the Oakland A’s to Las Vegas because they are only willing to contribute up to $195 million in transferable tax credits for stadium construction funding, not the full $395 million the team is seeking, sources close to negotiations told The Nevada Independent Thursday.

The amount the state will offer depends on how much money Clark County will offer in the form of county-issued bonds paid by taxes generated on the ballpark site. Sources added that lawmakers are discussing between $150 million and $195 million in transferable tax credits, but nothing is set in stone until the county details are finalized.

The renderings are awesome but the big problem is no one gives a shite about The Athletics. “Honey, let’s take a trip to Vegas to catch an Athletics game” said no one. The Raiders move worked because they used to be in Los Angeles so they had a lot of fans already in Vegas and the surrounding big cities (Los Angeles and Phoenix). For this work, it needs to be with a team that people actually care about and that has a strong fan base.

I love how it took the sports world to tell the world what a shitehole Oakland has become... Oh and In-N-Out burger announced to America too...because the MSM certainly has ignored it.

Everybody leaving. The great Oakland exodus...
