I've witnessed plenty of racers that were able to support themselves at least that high WITHOUT climbing on anything. Had one last summer come out from behind a shrub as I was weed-eating and his head was well over 2 feet off the ground before he took off.

Racers are good climbers too. We caught and released one at Fontainebleau park, and it went straight up a small tree and climbed through the canopy about 20’ above ground.

Just don’t spook them . I catch them all the time, and you’d be surprised how many you can sneak up on and grab while they just sit there. Once they decide to bolt though, they are extremely hard to catch.
