I used to be fun. With friends. Personal interests. A social life If you're wife doesn't let you have this, that's a big red flag. Some of those things take a backseat when you have kids, but you should not completely lose them either.
I’m fairly new to marriage and parenthood, so this is a pretty hot topic at my house. I prioritize my wife and 9 month old, but make it a point to enjoy my interests and hobbies when I can. This a hill I will die on and my wife can not stand it.
Married in my 30’s, so maybe it’s bc I was independent for so long that I feel it’s so important. My wife, on other hand, believes I exist only for work and her personal entertainment. One day she’ll learn

In my previous marriages i did. But my current wife insisted that i learn to do as i damn well please instead of killing myself trying to please everyone else.
I was a workaholic to escape the hell at home in previous marriages, making great money trying to make everyone happy. It was never enough. They cared nothing about doing anything to make me happy.
My current wife pushes me to do as i damn well please. I wasnt sure how to do that with out feeling guilty.
She encourages me to go have man time with the quys or to sit on my arse all day if i please. She arranged our life and finances so i could retire early.
We bought a camp on the river because she said i could fish from my own porch that way.
Now i just need to figure which way to go creatively hobbywise. Im looking into getting into woodworking since we already have a workshop.

walked away from my career for my daughter. I loved my career, but love my daughter more.
Careers last a finite amount of time.
Your daughters love for her will likely be infinite.

You better hope your wife never sees this post

I bet you if you looked at your day/week, you see a lot of wasted time. Even with not taking away time from the kids/wfie, I am 100% certain you can find 1 hr a day to start working on yourself.
You will find more as you go. Start small.
You have 1 life. No need to live an unhappy life.
Also, the bill of regret only grows larger year after year. Best to tackle that now.
Invest in you. There are ways.
