San Antonio won’t be larger for much longer. The San Antonio MSA has 2.6 million people and is growing at approximately 1.5%. Austin has 2.35 million people and is growing at a 3% rate. I suspect Austin would be the preferred choice for MLB over San Antonio.

Austin has the money, but that town bleeds burnt orange. I’m wondering if it will be tough competing with UT.
