Decided to shop around some since my homeowners renewal just came in with a 40% increase. My wife is a teacher so we qualify with Horace and the quote they just gave me seems pretty legit. Anyone have any negative experience with them?

I have. They did not offer HOI here in south La. I had car insurance with them, but I got a much better quote with Progressive.

I have had them for about 20 years. They always pay claims quickly. I had damage from Katrina and IDA. Both times they had an adjuster out quickly and were fair. Their rates are much cheaper than the competition. Only downside is the local agent closed here and I work through one in BR now. That agent is good to deal with though.

I've never been a customer but I had a 16 yr old hit me years ago and that was his insurance company. They accepted fault and paid the claim. Pretty easy to deal with IIRC. All I've got.

I had them when I was teaching. They offered a very low rate for about three years. Then they more than doubled it out of nowhere. I hadn’t had any accidents or tickets either. They were great for three years though
