Holliday's Impact

Trindon hasn't been making as many big plays as he did last year i think he should be getting a few more touches

I think teams are more prepared for him this year

I think he needs to be getting more touches also but I think with the emergence of CS his touches have been limited.

How can you say that when he doesn't even get in game anymore? Not ONE freaking touch Saturday night.

The problem with Holiday is simple. For his speed to be an asset on the field, he still needs to be a surprise. For him to be a surprise, it can't be OBVIOUS where he'll be going.
But, unfortunately, it has become obvious in the last couple years that he is quite simply NOT trusted to catch the ball. So, when he lines up on the right, there is pretty much nill chance he'll be getting hit with a quick pass on that side with the opportunity to make folks miss. Now that defenses know that, they pretty much know that when he's on the field, he's gonna take a handoff. So, if he's on the right, he's goin left. That aint really all that hard to defend.

was it troys gameplan to blotch every kickoff to keep it away from holliday or were they just trying to got a lucky fumble

Line him up in the slot, and let him go deep. Who's gonna keep up with him.

We are using him worng and when he lines up in the backfield, grandmothers know what play is coming.

You realize he has like two career catches right?

IMO his speed should be one of our weapons the coaches need to find a way to use him (not like we have been) NO ONE is faster than this guy...yea he is small but Crowton has to have a few plays in his hat that would be explosive

It seems like we have a lot of EA NCAA 09 coaches in this thread.
Posted on 11/17/08 at 11:28 am to lmount
seems like we could use him as a decoy at least to run off a corner and safety and throw to someone else underneath.

Speed don't help you much if I know where you're going and if you're pretty much no threat to go out for a pass, I know where you're going.
Tell me where you'd line up Holiday that the defense wouldn't know EXACTLY how to defend him since he's pretty much no threat in the air.
And folks, cmon, if the guy could catch, you actually think Crowton wouldn't throw to him? Pahleez.

his impact was LSU getting GREAT field position everytime because troy was scared.
i'll take that.
besides, when he's in the RB position, it's telegraphed to him everytime.

A guy who is this fast and can score from anywhere on the field should touch the ball more no questions asked. speed kills and he has plenty of it. i dont think he needs to be a surprise i just think he needs to be on the field more. other than just coming into the game when a play is designed for him. use him more in the offense.

he is being used completely wrong.
The comment about the NCAA 09 is bullshite. Anyone can tell you he is not being utilized.
We need to just fake it to him every now and then too. Every time #8 is on the field, there is 100% chance it's going to him.
VERY predictable and stupid.

When we give it to him in the rb position he does well. Where it's predictale is when he comes from the wr position running toward the short side of the field. Whoever came up with that play is an idiot. We should put him in the backfield behind those big lineman so they can't see him. That's what is so effective for demps and rainey they comes through that line without the d-lineman seeing them and then if they make one person miss it's to the house. And don't give me that demps weighs 170 and trindon is 160 bulls*it. At that weight there's no difference. He's 2-3 shorter anyway. Just ask usc how effective a small running back can be and that kid (jaquizz rogers) can't weigh much more than 160.

To see how Holliday can best be utilized, one only needs to watch the movie Willow.
Posted on 11/17/08 at 11:50 am to lmount
Why does Holliday have to be a "surprise" to be used? Is Rainey (UF) a "surprise"? Hell no - they just run him & dare you to try to catch him. Come on, Miles, take a page out of Meyer's playbook.
