More specifically, at their auction? What was the experience like? What's their preferred payment method (cash, check)? Will they allow you to pick up horse later in the week after auction?

Have a friend that bought a pretty good barrel horse from them online. He was on the balcony of a condo in Fla. of course he had already done his homework on the horse and had it on a short list of horses to bid on.
I’m sure there are stipulations on when it has to be picked up

Tons of people - expect to pay 3-5K more than current value. A lot of people raise their hand a couple of times just to feel like they're in the mix....no intention of purchasing but raise the price, quick.
The last one I went to had a lot of really good ranch type horses.
What are you looking for?
The kids ponies really bring the $$$.

It’s a legit sale. John Christiana started out as a local horse trader and has grown his business into a legit respectable auction. I wouldn’t buy anything without a pre purchase exam or assurance of acceptable return policy shouldnthen horse have any issues.
Once you pay for the horse, it’s yours and your responsibility. You’re usually expected to take tha animal home by the end of the auction so bring your trailer or hire a hauler. I also wouldn’t leave my new horse unattended anywhere. The auction company has no interest in the animal after the sale.

Thank you for the information, what about online bidders? Are they given a little bit of a window to pick up the horse?

You need to call SWHC and get the exact date of when the animal has to be picked up. Based on my experience, I would highly advise you to observe and inspect the horse in person before bidding.

Best to make arrangements with the auction company ahead of time and get that info first hand. They can probably accommodate you, but you’ll need to define “window”.

Was a good time, we got the horse we wanted. Look forward to going back in the fall.
