re: Partnering with friend(s) on a camp/boat

One of my brothers bought a lake house with one of his business partners. It wasn’t anything exotic, just a couple of bedrooms probably built in the 1970’s but the backyard backed up to the lake and had a nice dock with boat storage. Both guys had kids and spent a lot of times there. One day, the partner told my brother he wanted to sell his interest in the house. My brother didn’t think he’d use it enough to justify cost of full ownership and he couldn’t find anyone trustworthy who was interested in buying the open half. They ended up selling the house.
