We've got a pretty good class coming in this year... don't know if you noticed.

not really. Maybe on the d line. I think the tigers are very explosive on the offensive side of the ball. If the coordinators can get their stuff together to put in a proper scheme and execute the defense would be dominant.

well of course i have. But that does not help what we are seeing now does it.

The team that won the 2007 mnc had players from arguably the best class in lsu history. since then we have gone 22,7,4,11 if you count in perrilloux, odom, and benton (has counted for how many classes now???) those ranking are even inflated a little. We had the number 1 and 2 classes in 03, 04. I hope this class finishes as predicted cause we sure need it. Some of our players just look SLOW!!!! 2010 is ours!!!!

No wait i have 2 more cents

actually linebacker and d line is most glaring. It's not miles fault. When saban dumped us he left us with a hangover that year in recruiting, and we are seeing it this year. It will right itself after this year. But this year the talent just isn't there like it's been in the past. Sorry i know some of you can't handle the truth.

Do you really think that Troy is more talented than LSU? Troy was starting two offensive linemen that weren't even offered scholarships from Troy. (walk-ons)

There is probably no other sport more result dependent by coaching than college football.

No talent at DLine, that is our biggest weakness?

rjf is not near what he was hyped to be. Jackson is a dissapointment as well in my eyes and has underperformed to expectations. Woods, favorite, alexander seem average at best. Neves and alem are the real deal though.

dorsey, wroten, kyle williams were all better.

so you think we have a greater drop off in talent at DL than at QB or CB?

I guess I would want to change that to dependent on coaching rahter than dependent by coaching, but yes I would stand by that.

Are you saying you disagree? How many times do you see a better coach come in to a program and see the team get turned around using the same players that couldn't win games?

Talent only gets a coach so far in this sport.

True, this defense is very reactive, rather than pro-active.

dreaux,
I don't like to say this but, you do understand the game of football?

The D-line has been doing the best it could, with a very weak secondary and a lb corp that isn't near the top 3-4 in the SEC.

The sceondary is has finally started to show some improvement over the last two games and the lbs are doing better.

This year was a rebuilding year and I predicted 9-3 or 8-4 in the regular season. Far to many fans had us in the BCS.

LSU will be better in 2009 and by 2010 they will be a powerhouse.

.

If the secondary is at fault then explain these stats?

Before the Troy game:

LSU ranks 6th in the SEC in rush defense
LSU is in a 3 way tie at 7th in the SEC for sacks.
LSU is ranked 12th in the SEC for redzone defense (Where teams run more than throw, 11 rushing TD's)
LSU doesnt have a single player outside of the DB's in the top 50 in SEC for tackles made.
LSU only has 2 players ranked in the top 21 in the SEC for sacks or tackles for a loss.

Granted LSU hasnt had many sacks credited as "coverage sacks". but they dont have many sacks period.

Leadership drop off maybe. Talent wise, we're still good.
