Every player has breakdowns. That's just stupid to harp on. Even Herb got into some miscommunication with JV on a screen in the very same game.
Klay did not have elite defense early on. Herb is what elite defense looks like early on. Klay developed it over time. Murphy will as well.

His defense isn’t great thats just being real. It wasn’t miscommunication he’s lazy on D and isn’t right position at times. God forbid, we do an honest assessment on a player. I love Trey but he has issues on defense, even AD was calling him out on it on the telecast. Klay was always an elite defender even coming out of college, that was one of his pluses on his draft profile. People dont just learn to become elite defenders.

Trey was a very good defender coming out of college. It's not like he's someone who was a turnstile. Defense isn't something that clicks early on for most guys. A lot of good defensive guys struggle early on and figure it out with reps.

Let me get this straight you think Trey can be Klay Thompson? One of the greatest shooters and wing defenders of our generation? Lol thats delusional. Trey is a really good player and probably all star he will not be Klay Thompson.

Let me get this straight... You're moving goalposts now?
Posted on 4/8/23 at 12:27 pm to supe12sta12z
You keep comparing him to Klay Thompson. He has two really good months of basketball and all of sudden you’re bringing up Klay Thompson lol

You need some reading comprehension because you're making assumptions.

You’re right you just butted into a reply I had to a different person. Which makes no sense. I guess you wanted to say Klay didn’t have elite defense till later on. Instead of me assuming, you tell me who are you comparing Trey to? Instead of nitpicking my reply to someone else.

That's how messageboards work. You keep changing the subject and moving goalposts. You clearly just want to "win" the argument. You can have the last word buddy.

Lol message boards work by making coherent statements not side comments with no purpose. You obviously trying ti nitpick what I said and when i called you out on it gave a personal attack and threw a hissy fit instead of actually making a comparison for Trey.

His second year stats are very similar to klays . Same made threes on same percentage . Similar Ppg rebounds and assists . His style of offence is very similar . Almost identical if you ask me .. so yes it’s a great comparison . Not saying his gonna be an all time great like klay . But play style absolutely the same

I can standby and agree with you saying at this stage his play is somewhat similar to Klay. I know you’re not saying this, but I have hard time believing he’ll reach Klay’s status though. I think hes a borderline all star more than a hall of famer.

Klay is a good comp. But there are differences as well as similarities.
Klay is not athletic at all. He is a great shooter. He evolved into a good defender, but that took a lot of work.
Trey is super athletic. He will definitely be a better influence on drives and fast break play, et cetera. Like Klay, he is an above average catch and shoot.
I think Trey is at least what Klay was defensively when he came to the NBA.

He remains a defensive liability, especially on a team that's known for defense.
He's not as bad as BI, and he had room to make improvements

He’s crashing boards and attacking the basket and even passing better now. Idk what his ceiling is but it’s pretty high with his stroke and size. If he continues to work he could be an all star.
Yeah, I've been calling for this.
He is so much more than a guy who stands at the 3 point line.
I always said he would be the 4th best player on this team but he is vying for 3rd.

He isn’t even remotely a close comparison to Klay IMO. Trey could win the 3pt or the Slam dunk contest any given year.
Klay isn’t that athletic. Even before his injuries.

This is an excerpt from a college draft report.
Establishing himself as a dynamic scorer early in his freshman season, Thompson continued to show flashes throughout his first two years at Washington State, but struggled with inconsistency and inefficiency often. As a junior, he took his scoring game to the next level while also making strides with his passing game, both of which gave his draft stock a considerable boost. Still, there are many questions surrounding Thompson's game and how it will transition to the next level, namely due to his lack of great athleticism and struggles on the defensive end. - Source: LINK / ©DraftExpress

Khris Middleton type, 3rd option on a title contending team
Posted on 4/8/23 at 4:02 pm to Baylor
It’s an all star. Maybe even a 2 option on a team. I genuinely think his ceiling is insane

Year two Klay (35.8 min/game)
16.6 pts, 3.7 rbs, 2.2 assists, 1 stl, 0.5 blks, .422 FG%, .401 3pt%, .841 ft%
Year two Trey (30.9 min/game)
14.5 pts, 3.6 rbs, 1.4 assists, 1.1 stl, 0.6 blks, .482 fg%, .408 3p%, .907 ft%
It’s a decent comp. Klay was one of the best shooters in the game. Trey is right there already in year 2. Trey has a ways to go on defense, but his length gives him the opportunity to be a very versatile and valuable defender.
He is not Klay, but Klay provides a hopeful path of progression for what Trey could become.
