At what point does your fan experience take charge?

This isn’t a trade Zion thread because quite frankly that isn’t going to happen anytime soon. This also isn’t a “what’s best for the franchise” discussion.
The question is simple, at what point does not having Zion on this team increase your fan experience? The enjoyment you get out of following and watching this team. Not having to worry when the next injury will come around the corner.
As a fan we can probably recognize, should probably recognize, the likelihood of this franchise becoming some perennial championship contender probably isn’t truly realistic. At least odds wise. You may have a run like Dallas had last year, but consistently competing like the Warriors, the Chiefs, etc etc is something that’s pretty uncommon in sports. There’s more teams stuck at the bottom or in .500 purgatory than are the Warriors in Chiefs.
So having a healthy Zion is obviously the best chance this franchise has at getting to the top, but at what point, strictly as a fan, do you accept you’d prefer just watching a bunch of guys who are consistently on the court and win say, 45-50ish games a year? Maybe you’d probably still get that Dallas run.

There is 1 ultimate goal… win the damn thing.
It comes down to if we can keep him healthy for 1 or 2 years of his next contract, we give ourselves our best chance to ever win it all.
Im still not trading him for another couple of years but frick me this is tiresome now.
Being a 50 win team and no shot of winning it all doesn’t interest me much. Sure it’s nice to win, but if we aren’t winning the chip, what are we doing?

For me, never.
I have no desire to be the Lillard/CJ Blazers or the Mitchell/Gobert Jazz.
Nothing more frustrating than being good not great.
I prefer to swing for it all or be bottom dwellers.
There's always hope when you suck that you'll get the next Wemby or Zion.

Totally agree with England_Pelican.

Terrible post. Never.
I root for my local teams, don't give a frick if Bugs Bunny was our best player. Honestly this forum ruins the fan experience, it's a shite show after a loss, it's a shite show after Zion doesn't come back.

The teams mentioned above were aiming for championships. So the argument is flawed. If a franchise is investing more to compete it is better as a product than being a minimum team.
You don’t know it won’t end in championship until it doesn’t.
The recent Jazz traded for Conley were #1 in the West.
The franchises that continuously suck have empty arenas because their product is bad.
Look at The Reds and The Indians in baseball. The Tribe hasn’t won dick but is invested. The Reds have Ken Griffey Jr has their 4th highest paid player in 2023.
As a fan experience is concerned give me a team that is trying to contend. If you tell me you’d rather watch the team with Dan Dickau and Lee Naillon modern day equivalents or this current Pels squad, you’re full of shite.

Who said anything about not rooting for your team? Hoping to bottom out? In this type of hypothetical your team is better than what you’ve rooted for in the 21 years they’ve been here and better than what they currently are.
I doubt you need to be reminded that this franchise has only won 45+ games six times in the 21 years they’ve been here. 50+ just once. If you root for your team why wouldn’t you want that?

I get where you’re coming from with this point of view, but as a fan, that’s not my goal. I feel like that’s an executive/player/coach goal.
As a fan my goal is to enjoy the team as much as I can game by game, week by week, year by year. Winning a title is cool and all, but I’m all about the process.
Like someone else said you don’t know if it ends in a championship until you lose the last game of the year. It doesn’t effect the process and the run. As a fan that doesn’t know what’s ahead, trying to project the end of the Zion years ahead, I think I would enjoy winning 45-55 games a year and maybe have a fun run once or twice, than being in this perpetual purgatory of waiting for the next injury and 35-40 win season because of it.

A lot of people, some of whom want to trade Zion the most, already assume he's going to get his shite together for his next team. Is being rejected by the Pels the event that triggers that change, or is it just a time and maturity issue? Answering that question tells you your next step.
If you just have to ride the roller coaster for a few more years before it levels out, you ride the roller coaster. If Zion needs to be rejected to learn his lesson, you probably need to trade him at the next opportune moment.

It’s a trend at this point. Not just a run on bad luck. I’m have no clue what it would take for it to change, but I know there’s no logical reason to expect it to right now. I don’t know if it’s really even a lesson thing at this point. By all accounts he had learned his lesson, and here we are.

Yes there is. What's common in all of the complaints? Not being a professional or not taking things seriously enough. He's 22 years old. How many of us were as serious about our careers at 22 as they were at say 25-26?
Making a break from his family members last offseason was a huge step towards acting more like a professional. He needs to take more steps and the team needs to push/help him.

Like I had said in my last post, he already took that step, and here we are. Sometimes guys are just injury prone for whatever reason. Regardless of what type of shape they’re in. This isn’t the first time he’s suffered an injury when he was in shape either. Some guys just can’t shake it.
