This is called "instant-on." Almost all states use them, as it is not exclusive to just Louisiana and Mississippi. These have been in use for many years. Nothing new here.

The better detectors can sense these out, providing you have a lead car "bogey" ahead of you.

I call that 'Hunting'. Fortunately most cops are too lazy to do that. They'd rather drive around blasting that Ka band. Same with Laser. If they're hunting, then waze AND a decoy car work best. Of course that didn't work for me when I went toodling through waterproof and got a ticket by their resident 'hunter'. But that place is like the Louisiana Arm pit.

For the most part, you can just turn off X band. And if you're in the Southeast you can pretty much turn off K as well. Ka is where the action is. Maybe some real small towns are still rocking the K band, but I don't think I've had one hit that turned out to be a cop. Most of the time it's a stupid Honda or Dodge that I pick up.
