In the early 2000’s I had a few Tool songs like Schism and Sober on mix cds but never really explored their music. Today I was in the mood to listen to Schism (I use Amazon music) afterwards it just kept playing all of their songs. I was completely blown away. It’s like discovering something new that’s been around for some time now.

I did this a few months ago. Music hit me way different than it did back in the day.
Lateralus is one of my favorite songs. Top three.

As a teenager I used to get so excited about music that I hadn't discovered yet.
I wish I still got excited about things like I used to

Spotify's Discover Weekly helps finding new music. I get friends Discover playlists too.

I’m going to see them play at Louder Than Life this September. Not the biggest fan, but since they’re playing the festival day with Godsmack, Limp Bizkit and Megadeth, I’ll check it out.

I've renewed interest by going back over old stuff that I view much differently now, or even may have missed. It kind of feels like it once did.

It is one of the very few groups that I find that I like it better the more I and they age. I was late to the game, first introduced to Tool around 2003. I was completely blown away.
While admitting that I didn't warm up to 10,000 Days at first, I find it gets better as the years go by as well. I long held the opinion that Lateralus is the best heavy record of the 21st Century. The only thing that challenges it for me is Fear Inoculum.

Enjoy the ride. I wish I could go back to listening to Aenima, Lateralus, and Undertow for the first time.
I bought Lateralus when I was in high school because I liked A Perfect Circle's debut, and new it was the same singer. I popped in the CD:
The Grudge: About a minute in..."when the hell is the song going to start???...." *SKIP*
Eon Blue Apocalypses: "Wtf is this shite???" *SKIP*
The Patient: "What the hell? Do they have any songs on this album?" *SKIP*
Mantra: "F*#&$#@@*)!!!!!" *SKIP*
Schism: "Whoaaaaa...This sounds super interesting. I need to listen to this again."
And so on. At first, I think I only listened to Schism and Parabola...then The Grudge, then Lateralus. It took me about a year or more to get into listening to the whole album. Then I got into Aenima, then Undertow, then everything.

Listen to Lateralus in its entirety, from beginning to end.
Then, go to YouTube and listen to The Beautiful Gift. Fans figured out a *different* way to listen to Lateralus, and it makes an entirely different album with different feelings.
Lateralus is probably my favorite album of all time.

Was never the biggest Tool fan and didn't listen to them much, but a friend of mine convinced me to listen to Fear Inoculum when it came out in 2019, and it was absolutely life changing. Once I listened to that album, I listened to the others, and it was just as great. Wish I could go back to listening to them for the first time in my life. Every single song they've made was ground breaking.

Tool after smoking is next level. You're welcome

The crazy thing about Tool is when professional musicians explain why the music is soo good. They have the respect of their colleagues like few bands before them.
I heard a bass player explain why 46&2 is his favorite song. He was saying that the bass line inverts over the course of the song- but subtly. By the time the song is over, the bassline is actually being played backwards.

I admit that I was late to the Tool Party. During the 90's I was strictly old rock and a little of the grunge stuff. The grunge stuff grew on me and I become a fan. But honestly, I didnt pay a lot of attention to Tool until the new album came out which I absolutely love. Since, I have went back and found some tunes from the earlier albums that I really enjoy.
Sober being one I really like
I live 7empest but man I love Descending. What a great damn song

Never again.

If you like Tool, check out Wheel and Source. Same sound.
