Why doesn't #3 start? His freshmen year he reminded many Tiger fans of Laron with his speed/power combo. If he had started could his skills have been developed better?

IMAO I think he and the coaches are having identity problems!! He seems to be pretty good at everything most of the time!

so you saying coaches are unsure on how to use him, simple play him at his natural position, free safety, don't know what the hell their doing

I think the defensive coordinator has multiple personality disorder...

yeah thats what im saying , they keep putting him in differ positions. Its like they are waiting for him to shine in just one or fail in one.. But I think he was recuited as an athlete, wasnt he?

He as done an average job in man coverage this year compared to other DBs. Also, maybe the coaches tried to force too much on him to quickly. Before the season began, there was some story about him playing Saftey, CB, and LBer. He hasn't seemed to learn all the nuances of each position. He is a great athlete though and he could do these things later in his carrer possibly.

yeah, Old Lou, he's a natural athlete but Jones is a natural at free safety, he played it in HS if I'm not mistaken, has the range to track passes and can develop into a big hitter, I don't know what the hell their waiting on, play him next to Coleman.

We clearly don't have defensive coaches capable of thinking outside of the box.
I would Eric Alexander the shite out of Chad Jones. Another example of what I would do with Chad Jones is Brian Urlacker.

He's coached by morons. Hopefully, they haven't ruined his pro prospects, because he'd be much better at thi point if he were coached by better people.

IMHO he should be used at FS. I think he is better at helping cover than outright covering man on man. He has speed and can tackle. He needs to be better developed but I don't think that is a strong suit of the current Co-DC's. This team is in disarray.
It's funny how many fans talked all this trash leading up to the Bama game about how Bama was unproven and really hadn't played nobody. They down right trashed this team for the most part. Then after we lost to them, those same fans took solace in the fact that we had "played close with the #1 team in the nation". How we had almost upset the #1 team while we were in a rebuilding year.
In CFB nobody cares about moral victories, they don't count for nothing. You can't have it both ways. Either Bama was not that good and still beat us OR they were actually as good as advertised which means they quite possibly played a bad game. Either way, they are still undefeated after 10 games. They may or may not win the MNC but they are well on their way to being a much improved football team and they are no longer rebuilding.
Please don't let your hate for a program blind you of the facts. They are better than us this year. Next year, hopefully not but we definitely need more improvement than they do.

the best answer yet....
Also, if he would take care of business off the field the coaches might think about him at the safety spot as a starter. Until then, they are holding their breath....

What has he done to scare you?

He is ideal for weak side LB. Sit Perry Riley on the bench. We have yet to cover a TE or back in the hot routes, Jones would be able to cover both. Remember Alexander a few years back, similar built and ability.

Are you nuts? He is good for the middle and the run. Sit his buddy down, Kelvin S., would be better because he has been the weak link at LB more than any other. He hardly ever hits the runner square and can't seem to fill the gap where that runner is coming from.
