They ran into the issue where they had solid role players and needed an alpha star.

Their star unfortunately became way too good too fast and they could never get a 2nd type guy for him.

In hindsight they should have stayed with kp and tried to make it work because you need a big like him. His injury concerns scares then and he became disgruntled too

Mavs gave up a lot for what might turn into a 2 month rental.

It almost runs a parallel to our stint with AD. It was obvious that AD was an elite talent and Demps was hell bent on putting a 2nd star next to him asap instead of letting things grow organically.

Dallas moved mountains to land Kristaps and his time in Dallas was incredibly disappointing. Ironically, the Kristaps of this current Wizards is the guy they thought they were getting in his time with Dallas
